DNS is the lifeline and backbone for online systems.
DNS translates domain names to IP addresses and lays the foundation for the World Wide Web which is why it is extremely important.
A glue record provides the IP address of a nameserver so that the domain can be resolved in the case where the name server is hosted at the same domain as the domain name itself. Let's take an example to understand how glue record works. Let’s say the domain name example.com has the nameserver ns1.example.com. In the DNS Resolution process, the authoritative nameservers for example.com is ns1.example.com. The DNS resolution for ns1.example.com would first require the resolution of example.com which points to ns1.example.com, which then points back to example.com. This creates a dependency loop so the resolution will never succeed. Glue records break the loop by including the IP address of the nameserver along with the name of the nameserver.
This tutorial shows how to add a glue record for a Dynu registered domain name. Note that you only need to add a glue record if you are hosting a name server for example.com and are naming the name server name.example.com. If you registered your domain name with us and are using Dynu name servers, you do not need to add a glue record.
Open a Web browser and type http://www.dynu.com/ControlPanel in the address bar then press the enter key. Use your username/email address and password to log into the control panel.
After logging into the control panel, go to Domain Registration section and click on the domain name for which you want to configure DNSSEC.
In your domain settings, you will see an option to manage Glue Records.
Hostname: The name of the authoritative name server for example.com. It needs to be name.example.com. For the .com/.net domains, the total length of a host name must not exceed 80 characters. For the CTLD domains, the total length of a host name must not exceed 253 characters.
IPv4 Address: The IPv4 address of the name server. This field is not required if the name server is hosted on IPv6 address only.
IPv6 Address: The IPv6 address of the name server. This field is not required if the name server is hosted on IPv4 address only.

STEP 1: Log into the control panel
Open a Web browser and type http://www.dynu.com/ControlPanel in the address bar then press the enter key. Use your username/email address and password to log into the control panel.
STEP 2: Find your domain settings
After logging into the control panel, go to Domain Registration section and click on the domain name for which you want to configure DNSSEC.
